i {heart} you - with lots of glitter

after i finished this other card for Card à la Carte's Inspiration Center, i was left with a second transparency card base and i didn't want to put it away for future use... we all know what happens when we do that. it gets put away and forgotten!

so in my eagerness to use it, i started using a rub-on and messed up - big time! i couldn't get rid of the bad rub-on so instead i chopped off the transparency part that was damaged and figured out a way to use the rest. as it turns out, i had a front and about an inch of the back so i salvaged it by glueing a piece of white C/S to the 1" part for the back and a piece of DSP to show through the front, kinda sandwiched between the white CS and the transparency. 

 

the DSP acts as a backdrop to my glittered i {Heart} you Sticky Cuts Letters (#111109) that i dusted with Red Fine Galaxy Stampin' Glitter (#114286) and Olive Fine Supernova Stampin' Glitter (#114287) from Stampin' Up! i also added a gorgeous Basic Black 5/8" Satin Ribbon (#117285) to the top of my card.

 

ooooh, she purdy! see how she shines?!  

 

the inside of the card is also a mistake i fixed. i had stamped the sentiment (from Kind & Caring Throughts #115234 -- hostess free gift) directly on the inside panel but it smudged. So i stamped it again on a scrap piece of Whisper White CS and lined with a piece of Real Red CS before adhering it over the smudged sentiment.

tea time for two

 

i'm back with another tea bag holder. this time, i'm using the little flowers i made last week. i'm also using the new Sending Love Specialty DSP and the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch. 

 

i love that paper -- so glittery! it's all double-sided and the you can see the reverse side on the top flap. i absolutely love love the new luscious satin ribbon. 

 

for this project, i glittered the flower by running a two-way glue pen over the "petals" and dunking it in Champagne Glitter. i love that effect. perfect for valentine's day!

 

instead of tea leaves, this gift contains a bag of tchai tea (another of my favorite). Here are the dimensions of the holder: cut a piece of 3" X 11" cardstock and score it at 1", 5 5/8", 6" and 6 3/8". Easy-peasy!

i love these little gifts. they're perfect for my friends of non-romantic nature :-D

valentine's treat purses & relief for Haiti

I just realized that I haven't posted in a week. Yikes, where does the time go? My brother-in-law came over from Toronto with his new g/f and they stayed over the weekend. That was a fun treat! And on Tuesday, my friend Marie-Pierre from Switzerland came over to play with Gen & me. We always have a good time, eat good food and laugh plenty. Love it!

I'd made them a few goodies and here's one of them:

These are so much fun to make. Whenever I order brads & buttons from Stampin' Up!, I store the content away and keep the container the come in. I'd never used them but nevertheless I was saving them because I knew they were the perfect size for treats. Mine are filled with Smarties. Then I saw these somewhere and I knew I had to CASE them!

Each container is covered with the Sending Love DSP (#117153) from the Occasions Mini Catalogue, as well as the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set... which brings me to a more serious matter:

Before I head off to my Dad's, I just want to show you the card I made for my dh for valentine's day. I kept it real simple cuz he's not a fussy kinda guy. I was greatly inspired by Kristina Werner's latest card so I was able to produce this in record time since I needed quite a bit of time to prepare for our special dinner.

glitter sisters night goodies and 2 new card kits at Card à la Carte !

On Wednesday night, I had my Glitter Sisters for our monthly meeting and I made a little goodie for each of them:

 

In each test tubes, I put some jellie beans and cinnamon hearts and I decorated each test tube with the images from the Love You Much Stamp Set on Tempting Turquoise and Pink Passion cardstock. The little hearts are punched from my "homemade" glitter paper with the Heart-to-Heart punch from the Love You Much bundle and new catalogue ( !!! ).  My homemade glitter paper is a piece of white cardstock that I glittered with Versamark, Heat & Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds. Unfortunately, I was in kind of a hurry to take a picture so some details are missing. If you click on it, you'll have a better idea. Oh, and I've added Whisper White Taffeta ribbon and the scalloped circles are hooked on the bow with Linen Thread.

Phew! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I did! It was full of good food, good company and good... work! Yes, work!

Geneviève Caissiée and I have been keeping a little secret for a while now, but we can finally reveal it. The banner you see up there is something we've been dying to share with you, customers and fellow demonstrators.

Valentine's Day Card

This is by far the friendliest-looking elephant (or effalump as my daughter would say) I have ever seen! He's just too darn cute. He's part of the Happy Heart Day stamp set that I will be using in my upcoming Valentine's Day workshop on January 23rd.

This could be given to just about anybody. The saying in English says: "to an unforgettable friend".

A Mouse With a Big Heart

Isn't it the cutest little stamp you've every seen?! I love that mouse. It's from the new stamp set "Happy Heart Day" (I've used the French version of it).

To color the image, I've used my Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol to create shading and blending effects. The inside of the heart is outlined with the pink Atyou Spica glitter marker from Copic. And for the first time, officially, I am posting a card with some shaded background done with the Copic Air Can and markers. I went a little crazy on the ground there, but that was mainly to cover up a mistake. You see, when I masked my image with the Eclipse paper, I had cut an oval around the saying. But it looked kinda goofy so I decided to re-mask but this time I sprayed over the saying. Oh well, you can't be perfect! I topped off the middle of the flower with a Swarowski crystal. I hope you enjoy my 1st Valentine... gotta go to bed now :-)
