well now that Sophie has received her card through the mail, here it is in all its glory. first, let me tell you that i can't stop making these cards. the format is called "concertina" and i found it on the KaiserCraft blog here. what i especially like about that type of card is that it allows you to use gorgeous paper that have intricate designs without cutting too much into it. and god knows i have a lot of those gorgeous paper!

here's the card when it's neatly folded... i made a No. 10-size envelope with matching paper with the help of the martha steward score board.

and here it is without its belly band around it. i love it! it's basically a sheet of double-sided (very important) 12 X 12 dsp that you cut down to 9 X 12 so that it fits in a No. 10 envelope. then the paper is scored every 3 " and cut on a diagonal at the top. i'm planning on making a quick video tutorial on this but it won't happen for another week or so.
isn't this paper just yummy? i've been hoarding it for a while but my friend sophie deserved it. she just got a "promotion" at work and i couldn't be happier for her. and i sent it to her by mail so i didn't want any extra bulk. that's why i kept the layers to a minimum... no ribbon. i decided to let the paper talk.

here's a look of the inside. the quotes are from gina k. designs' botanical dreams set as well as from club scrap. i recycled the part that i had cut off from the top and glued it on the inside. if you look closely, the text in the background of that piece of paper is actually upside down... oops! but sophie won't mind i'm sure. she always bugs me about looking for perfection LOL . another thing i like about this format is that it gives you a lot of space for writing a message. i took the picture before i wrote the message but it basically spans all the way across the bottom portion. that's why it looks a little off-balanced on the photo now but with the message, it's just right.

i added some pretty lace to the front and some stickles to the flowers. the paper is from the fairy flora and watercolor rainbow (envelope) collection by prima.

i love that little bird frame from a stampin' up! set called four frames. it matches with the decorative label punch, also by stampin' up!. the sentiment is from ain't love grand by stampin' up! i also added some stickles to the flourishes and i like how it looks with the belly band over it. it just flows.
well, i'm off to our annual golf tournament -- don't worry, i can't golf yet! but i need to lend a helping hand.
much blog love, CeeCee
