have i toad you lately... part deux with inky antics honeyPOP

Updated 7/13/11 -- LOL don't get excited gals... i'm still recovering but i had a nice surprise when i popped the computer open just now to find out that i had a new post for today! this was pre-scheduled from 2 weeks ago. too funny!

i used to collect frogs when i was in my twenties... they're so cute -- and it used to be a little term of endearment given to me by a former boyfriend LOL . apparently i can swim like a frog. not sure if it was meant as a compliment or not?!

this card is another one of those that i CASEd from myself... but i changed the color of the mushroom and the pattern paper. it is made with inky antics stamp set, frog honeyPOP. the background paper is from a retired pad by stampin' up! the grass was punched with a martha stewart punch.

i colored both the mushroom and the frog with Copic markers, shadowed with Prismacolor pencils. i made it so that the frog looks like it's jumping towards the inside of the card.

the inside is also slightly modified from my previous one in that i added a lilly pad where the frog lands. i typed the continuation of the sentiment from my computer. Too cute!

a few months ago, I posted a similar card on on this blog but for this one i added major bling as requested by my client. i love the kiwi kiss cardstock against the black and pink dsp. it's just yummy to me. am i weird because i want to eat the paper?!

 

i love this little love bug from penny black -- she's becoming one of my most often used stamp.

 

i colored her with copic markers and added some shadows with prismacolor pencils. the wings are covered with dazzling diamonds. i also added some heart-shaped rhinestones on the antennaes.

 

the sentiment is from stampin' up!'s word play stamp set and embossed in clear. I had so much fun, I made two!

happy 4th of july + birdie cupcake honeyPOP

happy 4th of july to all my american readers! i hope you're having nice weather wherever you are for your festivities.

today's project was inspired by a piece of pattern paper from american crafts. it set the tone for the colors. and the rest was smooth sailing from there on. i'm using the birdie cupcake honeyPOP stamp set from inky antics once again (can you tell i love that set?!).

i colored the bird with copic markers but didn't add to much shadowing. i wanted to keep it simple. the clouds are cut with the scallop circle punch from SU and then hand-cut with scissors. i added a bit of stitching on them for a different touch. it also ties in with the stitched line on the sentiment banner.

here's the honeyPOP paper in the shape of a cupcake. so cute!

monkey + polka dots

polka dots have got to be my favorite dsp patterns, followed by stripes. this particular one is from a small paper pad by cosmo cricket, garden variety. i also fell in love with the different greens (my favorite color).

this monkey is not new to this blog. i've used it quite a bit. he's from inky antics honeyPOP's collection.

the fun part is the inside with the honeyPOP paper nestled in the middle.  the sentiments are fun too.

interactive cards are the best for kids... and grown-ups too :-)

honeyPOP birdie + balloon

sometimes i make a card and because of an oversight the layout veers off to something a little bit different. that's what happened yesterday when i made a card with inky antics' honeyPOP birdie stamp set. what i really wanted to do was use the honeyPOP paper but after i was done i realized that i had forgotten to make the 1/8" gutter in the middle fold of the card necessary to wedge the honeyPOP. so i ended up with yesterday's card. the card below is what i really meant to make:

the little birdie was stamped twice -- once on the white cardstock and once on the real red dsp.

and the inside reveals a balloon that i cut out of honeyPOP paper. but this time, the card opens horizontally. i didn't have a stamp for a balloon so i just drew it on the honeyPOP paper and cut it.

love that stuff!

birdie birthday card

a pretty bird for a pretty little girl. i hope she likes her fun card! i chose big polka dots paper for the base of my card from a retired stampin' up! dsp. the bird stamp is from inkyantics. i also added a pretty white bow and ribbon.

the bird is simply colored with copic makers (no shading), overlayed on foam dots and adorned with a necklace of stickles "beads".

inside, a little surpise.

i've talked about my little bird before, the one that tells me i'm working too late at night -- or morning as it stands. he sings his beautiful song to alert me to go to bed. the singing is so beautiful. and i know my birdie is not yellow but this one is:

the color combination was dictated by this american crafts background paper. such pretty colors. the clouds in the background are cut with a scallop circle punch then trimmed with scissors.

the bird is a stamp from inky antics' birdie cupcake honeyPOP stamp set and is simply colored with copic markers.

hoppy birthday -- a little guy's birthday card!

good monday morning all!

i hope you had a good weekend. here, it snowed for the first time and iced up the roads so it's official... we're having another winter. every year, i keep fooling myself into thinking that winter will evade us but nooooooooooo - mother nature has other plans for us :-)

so to counter balance that cold and wintry weather, i though happy colors and frogs! here's a card i made with bits and pieces that were already cut for a past class. it turned out completely different than what it was intended for.

i used the now-retired Stampin' Up!'s Unfrogettable stamp set, which i decided to keep because i loved it so much. i thought it would make a fun boy birthday card.

i stamped the forg on whisper white cs once then i stamped just the legs and cut everything up separately, leaving a little bit of cs over the legs to add brads. then i popped the body with stampin' dimensionals. the result: legs that swing!!! fun for kid!
