mary had a little lamb

today, i have another commissioned magnolia easter card to show you. it's going to a very young girl so i made sure to include cute little flowers with bling to attract the eye.

i don't own a lot of easter stamps so i'm grateful that my friend Angelle lent me hers. merci, Angelle! the main image is cut with a nestabilities die which i don't use often enough. they're so much fun!

the image was colored with copic markers and accentuated with dazzling diamonds glitter and white gel pen. if you click on the picture, you'll be able to see the glitter on the ruffles.

check out those blings! the one on the left is from Stampin' Up! and the one on the right i got from my local dollar store. see how it shines?! i love it!

easter eggs, yellow and blue and a new cutting mat, all pink!

this is when i usually apologize for not having posted for almost a week... but i won't! life happens and not everything gets done and i'm learning to live with that. on the positive side, i'm learning not to sweat the small stuff and take care of myself. it's a big accomplishment and i'm proud of it!

on to today's project -- another easter card. this one is going to a little girl so bling and "cutesyness" was imperative but also the thickness needed to be kept to a minimun since it will be mailed out overseas. i figured the bow made of sheer ribbon will flatten out well enough.

this is another magnolia girl carrying a basket of easter eggs. it's a big square card with a frame cut out with my big shot and the scallop frame #2. i reversed the glitter dsp of the frame and used a big piece of it to line the card and then stitched it in place with my sewing machine. the appropriate sentiment was stamped with a latte chalk ink.

i also decorated the inside of the card with a flower punched out of my homemade glitter paper and a border made with a martha stewart punch. very , very girly!

the little girl was colored with a combination of copic markers and prismacolor pencils and oms. she's also sprinkled with dazzling diamonds glitter in some areas.

i'm hoping those colors will chase away the amazing amount of snow!!!

and before i leave, take a look at my brand new cutting mat... it's so totally big and pink and scalloped and i love it! it's also magnetic. it comes with a ruler and some magnetic place holders.

easter easel cards

i'm so craving for warmer weather. it's freezing here in montreal. it snowed again yesterday morning and then it froze and the sidewalks and parking lots are all icy/bumpy. i hate it... BUT... there's sunshine so that's my positive attitude for today :-)

i wanted to show you these easel cards i've been making with borrowed (yes, i borrowed from my good friend angelle -- merci angelle!) magnolia stamps. those who know me well are aweare that i hate borrowing; i'd rather buy the stamps. it's much more "funner" that way. but my budget is very limited these days and angelle so graciously offered. so, there they are:

i love how they turned out. these ones are meant for boys, hence the edwin figurine. the edwin that i used was a valentine's day one since he was holding flowers behind his back. but i just cut them off and stuck that easter wagon behind him. and change-o presto, you got an easter image!

since this is an easel card, you need an element on the inside to rest the card on. i popped this sentiment from stampin' up! (well scripted). the easel card is pretty simple to make: you cut your cs to size, fold it in half and then score the top part right down the middle to create the easel fold.

this is what it looks like when it's closed. i added a piece of ribbon on the top portion and some hand-stitching with my white gel pen.

since the inside of the card is lined with design paper, i added a piece of whisper white cs for the message.

everything is colored with a base coat of copic markers and shaded with prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. i also added dazzling diamonds glitter to the wings and the yellow egg. the matted circle behing was cut and embossed with a nestabilities die and then sprayed with my copic air system. i like how they turned out.

technique club - mini milk carton die

tonight was our 2nd meet with the Technique Club members and here's what we did:

 

 

so cute! i love those Big Shot Dies -- this one is the Mini Milk Carton from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. the butterflies were die-cut and embossed at the same time using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die. 

i love anything that can hold candies. just open the spout and pour into your mouth -- goody! the technique we used for this project was altering the color of your ribbon using Stampin' Write markers. the large Chocolate Chip/Very Vanilla ribbon was re-colored using the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write marker. Easy to do and i love that it coordinates with the Pink Pirouette cardstock.

weaved easter basket

 

Tonight, I had a bit of fun weaving this cute little basket. I found a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. It's using the Basket & Blooms Bigz XL die for the Big Shot.

 

Isn't this cute?! I loved weaving the Pink Flamingo DSP paper. I did it a bit differently than the tutorial in that I kept the handles on both side so I could hook a piece of 1 1/2" Pink Pirouette gros-grain ribbon for handles. Fill this chocolate eggs and you've got a cute little giveaway for your Easter table!

I miss the midnight cut off for my "1 post-a-day" resolution but I'm sure everyone will forgive me. Take good care and I'll see you tomorrow. CeeCee
