Yes, stampers, the new Idea Book and Catalogue is out and the products are up for grabs. This card is so not my usual type of cards but I wanted a vintage feel to it and I thought going "crooked" as opposed to clean and straight lines would do the trick. I'm sure my friend Gen will have a comment or 2 about that!
Yesterday, I wrote that I was going to share a tip with my newsletter subscribers but I will share it here instead since I just upgraded to a newsletter service and I won't have that flexibility just yet. (Don't worry; you haven't missed my newsletter yet... it's coming!)
I wanted to show you how I did the punched border on the centerpiece of the card above. If you notice, it's kind swirly, curvy. I did it with the Curvy Label Punch! Here's a quick tutorial.
Step 1: Determine the center of your piece of paper and mark it on the wrong side with a pencil. If your paper is of a dark color, mark it on the right side very lightly so you can easily erase it afterwards. Then trace a line at 1/4" all across your paper.
Step 2: Align the peak of the Curvy Label punch to the center and the two swirls on the line you traced.
Step 3: Move your punch to the right and align the swirls on the same line, making sure that the curve on the left overlaps the previous cut and punch. Do the whole piece of paper using this method.
And there you have it! A beautiful curly homemade border.
Supplies list (all from Stampin' Up!) -- stamp set: wings of friendship (level 2 hostess free stamp set); cardstock: whisper white; DSP: razzleberry lemonade; inks: rich razzleberry, melon mambo, old olive, basic black; ribbon: whisper white 5/8" satin; punches: corner rounder, curly label; other: SNAIL adhesive, stampin' dimensionals.
